This is actually our SECOND snowfall! We had about this much Friday night and it mercifully melted off by yesterday. Last night our yard was once again turned into a winter wonderland-a FRIGID wonderland-a sticky WET soggy wonderland-a muddy under the white wonderland–a whiney dogs and cats bringing the wonderland indoors wonderland. A pile of winter gear and mittens and hats with boots and dog-tracks on top right inside the door wonderland. Rosey cheeks…frosted leaves…hot chocolate with marshmallows…thrum mittens…cozy blankies…books…knitting….OK—I think I am ready now…sure woulda been nice to have some autumn first though.

yup! the leaves are still on most of the trees–a LOT of crops are3 still n the fields! Sugarbeet growers are in a frenzy-pulling them out of the mud in desperation-the soybeans should be out before snow too but they have a tad more leeway–the corn is still OK-if no more snow comes–but the beets and the beans are in serious danger of becoming garbage. (which ironically will raise the prices for those commodities so that the growers can know the would have gotton a lot more money for the crop they did not get)
BTW–it was desperation inside the house too–not a winter coat was in sight on Friday-had to do an emergency ransack to find snowpants and coats for everyone-a couple were in mismatched mittens LOL–I took a little more time Sat afternoon and found something for everyone-ALMOST–I need 1 “good” coat and 1 pair of snowpants for play and I am good for the winter!!! amazing huh?

That is amazing. Here in southernish Texas a certain mother I know doesn’t even have jackets for her brood. Jackets. I hate clothes.

Is it just me or is SOMEONE having some laundry issues? First the socks and now jackets Dawn? Maybe you need a washing machine you can love–or some of that fancy aroma therapy fabric softner that makes folding laundry a zen experience? It’s Ok though-better to hate on the laundry than the meal-prep
Both tasks are like like shoveling snow in a snowstorm though
Wouldn’t that be fun BB????? Except even if you got an a plane right now the snow would be gone by the time you got here…(please oh please let the snow be gone again one more time before the big freeze!!) THIS snow is perfect for play too-nice and sticky (or heavy if you are manning the shovel instead of building a fort!) Then I could make you some famous COLD applesauce and introduce you to the mysteries of the tator-tot!!

Yes, laundry issues. Clothing in general (from the buying to the washing and putting away and seasonal organizing), even for myself, involves minute decisions and I get overwhelmed before I even start.

Dandelionmom, please keep your snow up there where it belongs. Please. I feel for you and all but you are probably descended from Vikings, I and see all tht blonde and red hair after all, and they really thrive in all that cold weather. Just embrace your inner Viking. I will pray for those farmers. That is really tough.
The issues of deciding which clothes to get out and which to put away become a lot clearer when you are shivering and you realize that temps are not going to be nice enough for summer clothes for a long, long time. That would be the Texas dilemma–it stays plenty hot most of the time.
And ABM when that wind comes sweeping down the plains or whatever it does, you will probably get a little colder. Just don’t send it along to the Lou. I want all of you people with cold weather, snow and rain to KEEP that stuff to yourselves. There are some things that aren’t meant to be shared.
Otherwise I may have to get on a plane and fly to Australia. I am not ready for winter yet. And Missouri is a southern state. Repeat after me, Missouri is a Southern state!

Say what you will, that snow makes my blood freeze. It is too early for snow and I think you should send it back. It is like Christmas decorations in October!

Great analogy Mary. Being from MN, I have fond memories of snow from my childhood. (I can remember Trick or Treating in snow!) When I first started following Mr. Nomad around, I actually missed the MN winter. Then we were stationed at Grand Forks AFB, ND. It completely took any good snow feelings I had, and buried them deep, deep, deep, in a snow bank somewhere.
Snow here in the Pacific Northwest is pretty sparse, unless you go up to the mountains. So, I’m hoping the white stuff will stay above 2,000 feet where I can drive to visit when the kiddos want to have a snow ball fight, but I don’t have to shovel or drive in the storms!

Okay, I do have to admit that it does look beautiful. Cold, but beautiful.

What’s the weather like up there, Dandelionmom? Snow melt yet?

If I hadn’t talked with family back home, I would be worried that you were stuck in a snow bank somewhere. They say you just have rain. Oh no, are you stuck in the mud??? I miss you.

Knock, knock, knock. Can Dandelionmom come out to play? I know she is busy with more important, fun things to do. But, send her out when she finishes her chores. We need an update on the sheep and the horses and the goats and the dogs and the young Dandelion scalliwags (or saints in training, depending on the day).
